The Prime Minister's wife sported a festive jumper and purple heels as she met children by the Christmas tree in Downing Street today to raise money for Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day.

Samantha Cameron showed off a festive woolly jumper reminiscent of The Killing's Sarah Lund's famous collection as she attended a Downing street charity event today.

Mrs Cameron, who is a Save the Children Ambassador, urging people to don a festive sweater and donate £1 to the charity.

She said: "Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day is a fun and simple way to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children across the world.

"It is heartbreaking that eight million children under five die each year and I'm proud to support Save the Children's vital work."
