"Day 6 and it's the 9th and 12th place playoff between Argentina and hosts India. India who was knocked out by a 3-3 draw to Korea will be looking to redeem themselves in front of their home fans.


First Half started in India favour when Ramandeep Singh was unleashed on the right wing, cut into the D and scored to put his team in front. After the Goal India was at it again when they were awarded a Penalty Corner and Amit Rohidas unleashed a fierce dragflick shot that saw India go 2-0 up, the best start India could have hoped for. It was then 3-0 just before Half Time when Ramandeep Singh picked up the ball surged into the D and unleashed a shot from a tight angle to score and give India a 3-0 led before the half.

The Second Half started in the favour of Argentina when they scored in the 32nd minutes. A long range shot from out of the D by Gonzalo Peillat (C) was met by Lucas Martinez who touched the ball into the net. However this did not last long when Gurjinder Singh scored from a Penalty Corner making it 1-4 to India. After the goal both teams kept battling for procession but India dominated most of the half and came close to scoring when Malak Singh met the ball from Akashdeep Singh and Malak shot rattled off the bar of the goal, India were close to scoring. Argentina did grab a consolation goal when Lautaro Diaz scored from a Penalty Corner but it wasn't enough and India win 1-4.

The Indian win set-up an always highly anticipated clash between Pakistan and India, although fans on both sides of the border would have preferred the match to be for better ranking than 9th place... As for Argentina, they can only be disappointed to play for 11th place, when they had never finished lower than seventh in eight previous Junior World Cup appearances.
