This castle-like structure used to be the Kentucky State Arsenal and was one used to house all of the state's ammunitions. The original arsenal was located in downtown Frankfort, but was moved to its current location after fire destroyed the building. It is currently undergoing renovation and is expected to open as the Kentucky Military Museum on Veterans Day 2011. The Museum will house artifacts dating back to the Revolutionary War and will also tell the stories of Kentuckians involved in various wars. Get a behind the scenes tour of some of the artifacts that will be housed in the Museum once construction is complete.
