On June 28, Shelli and Jerry Johnson took advantage of having a babysitter arranged all day for their three sons, and headed for Wind River Peak. They hiked from Worthen Reservoir, via Sheep Bridge, Middle Fork, Pinto Park to Deep Creek Cutoff trails before hiking a little ways past Deep Creek Lakes. At that point, just before arriving at Ice Creek Lakes, the two headed up "The Ramp" to Wind River Peak's summit via a northeast route. Wind River Peak, which stands 13,192', is the tallest peak in the southern Wind River Range. It was an epic day. Highlights included views of Little El Capitan on the way up the ramp, wildflowers, awe-inspiring summit views, and a "glissade" down the peak. All told, it was a 34-mile roundtrip hike that included 5,000'+ of elevation gain. For more, go to HaveMediaWillTravel.com, or YourEpicLife.com.
