Wroclaw/Breslau (PL), 18th October 2011: Wasser Tirol - Wasserdienstleistungs-GmbH was invited to present the Know-How about calculating and illustrating geothermal anomalies within GIS Systems to the participants of the EU-project SHARP from Scotland, Poland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece and Malta.
Dr. Fleischhacker, management director, had the opportunity to introduce the "Wasser Tirol-GmbH" as a resource management company, having a "holistic view on the system". Dipl-Hydr. Spiegelhalter explained in her presentation the interaction between shallow geothermal use of groundwater and artificial ground water recharge. In urban areas more and more conflicts between the use of groundwater for heating and cooling and for drinking water occur. These conflicts should be solved in an early stage developing special water management plans, which the Wasser Tirol company is supporting.
The following discussion about the presentation raised the importance of the issue. As a consequence the issue was additionally taken on the agenda of the EU project. Dr. Fleischhacker stressed finally the importance of the GIS water management plans facing the rapidly growing thermal use of ground water.
