Los Angeles composer and pianist Scott Healy's "Hudson City Suite" features Tim Hagans on trumpet, Scott on piano, and an all-star band. This fifty-six minute work was recorded April 30th and May 1st, 2012, at The Bridge in Glendale, CA. The suite comprises nine original tracks that are thematically linked--"Hudson City Suite" is a conceptual and grooving large jazz ensemble tour de force.

Hudson City was a small municipality adjacent to Jersey City before it was annexed in the 1850's. Despite a century and a half of assimilation and urban decay, some vestiges of the original small pre-Victorian town remain. Most of the distinctive Civil War-era urban architecture has vanished, some remains hidden under aluminum siding and weeds, but the vibe is still there--Hudson City lives on in the collective memories of the locals.

"Koko on the Boulevard", track #8 on "Hudson City Suite" was nominated for a 2014 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition.
