this song was released on my CD "Stretching Towards the Sun" I reworked some of the lyrics and it became this

Dancing barefoot engulfed by fields of lighting
But somehow the rain never came
Seized by sacred sorrow so frightening
Caught between the sacred and profane

In the western sky the sun is slowly sinking
A scarlet thread goes down in your eyes
Holding to this hopeless hope I am bringing
I'll descend into the water to arise

I'm drowning in the desert these words are so hard to say
I've spent my life just praying for a rainy day
I am drowning in the desert from drinking all the sand
Trying to hold the water in my hand as best I can

Echoes of a phone that's never ringing
Silence screams from behind every door
It's a fraying rope on that which I am swinging
I'm left in pieces shattered on the floor

This poetry that speaks of loves becoming
Out tripping on the stones of your past
Abandoned by the night and tired of running
These promises are just too much to ask

I'm drowning in the desert these words are so hard to say
I've spent my life just praying for a rainy day
I am drowning in the desert from drinking all the sand
Trying to hold the water in my hand as best I can

My stagnant soul hangs on the wings of the morning
I stand alone to face the coming rain
Bells ring out and howl like a warning
My poisoned heart will never be the same

I'm singing to the skies words of ardor
I am singing to the skies words so true
I am singing cause my hard heart is getting harder
I am singing to the skies still looking for you
