http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bengali_... A Bengali Marriage (Biye) Scene (both family members and friends are invited from the bride's side) where the groom (bor) goes to the bride's house along with his family and friends known as 'Bor Jatri'. The father of the bride (bou) offers her daughter's hand to the groom while the bride is made to sit on a wooden plate (Pidi) then she is circled around the groom for seven rounds (Sat Pake Badha) by her family members and they exchange garlands in order to establish the fact that she is now tied with him for life.
The priest conducts the entire process through chanting mantras in Sanskrit. The next day the groom will accompany her to his house when 'Bou Bhat' (feeding the wife) will happen (both family members and friends are invited from the groom's side) then in the night they will start staying together with the bliss of conjugal life. The first night is known as 'Phool Sajja' (flowered bed).
