Let's travel with Carlos Celdran in Manila, and let's discover China Town and a bit of Philippines history

First of all, Carlos Celdran is not a tour guide! Carlos Celdran is an artist, using the history of Manila as his script, and the city of Manila as his stage. He started by doing collage and became the youngest political cartoonist for the Manila Chronicle and the Manila Times when he was 16 years old.

We met Carlos at Pine-Apple lab, in Poblacion, Makati, where he was doing his act about the life of Imelda Marcos the famous wife of the controversial president of the Philippines from 1965 to 1986: Ferdinand Marcos. Despite his tight schedule he accepted our request. So we followed and travel with him during his tour in Binondo, Manila, where he tries to explain to the people that “we had a city” and how the urbanism had been totally forgotten decades ago.

For him, Metro Manila is made like many intramuros, what we can call malls : you have the church, the hospital, and sometimes the school at the same place… all of that with free air-con!!! Through this episode, you will discover a different way of seeing Manila and Metro Manila. Carlos Celdran, is not only the one who fought the church with that panel “Damaso” in 2010. He is an artist fighting for preservation of Manila’s history and architecture.
