Our world has experienced rapid shifts in the industrial structure within recent decades, including industrial composition and spatial distribution. Those changes will have significant impacts on global development and reshape the future global landscape, in terms of population, economy, politics, culture, and environment. This webinar recording (originally broadcast on March 8, 2017) will discuss available data for the spatial study of industry in the US and China. The data include government statistics, census data, business data and spatial data at different administrative and geographical levels. It will demonstrate how to identify those industrial structure changes in the US and China in terms of time and space. The future directions for the integration of government statistics, census data, business data, spatial data and big data as well as their applications will be discussed.
