The Green Tacoma Partnership is a public-private partnership between the City of Tacoma, Metro Parks Tacoma, Forterra, citizens, educational organizations, neighborhood groups, non-profits, faith-based organizations, and businesses all working together to sustain a viable healthy network of natural spaces throughout Tacoma.
By pairing with local park restoration groups, the Partnership supports the hands-on restoration of its local green spaces. Restoration work parties take place continually throughout the year; this work is integral to the restoration of Tacoma's forested parkland and greenbelts.
The partnership holds an annual Habitat Steward Orientation in order to train citizens in best management practices for urban forests. Stewards then become community leaders, engaging their neighbors and other park goers to help take care of these valuable assets.
