The Great Missouri Flood of 2011 is nothing like any other the Missouri River states have ever experienced. Starting in June of 2011, many miles of closures on Northwest Missouri highways began showing up as emergency releases from the upper reservoirs swelled the Big Muddy out of her banks. This video highlights some of the Missouri Department of Transportation's efforts to prepare for the flood and repair the roads to get them open as quickly as possible. Get an idea of how many roads were damaged, how much the flood costs and who it affected. Travelers in Northwest Missouri are happy to have most of the flooded routes repaired and open, but it will be a while before the flood of 2011 is forgotten.
