How to recover iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch restrictions passcode WITHOUT needing to jailbreak your device.
This done be using the device backup files and a "plist" editor in Windows.
1. Download "plist" editor from here:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Programm...
2. On your computer, locate this file:
"662bc19b13aecef58a7e855d0316e4cf61e2642b"
It is one of the backup files that iTunes automatically generates when you sync or backup your device. You can find it on your computer within a folder at this location:
%AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
3. Open the file with the "plist" editor *.
4. In the file, locate this key: "SBParentalControlsPIN". The 4 digits under this key is your passcode.
* If you get this error: "Conversion of data failed. The file UTF-8, or in the encoding specified in XML header if XML", then make sure that the "Encrypt backup" option in iTunes is unchecked.
For Mac users:
There is an editor included in the Apple Developer Tools for the "plist" files. You can find it on the Mac OS X Install disc under Developer Tools package (Developer / Applications / Utilities / Property List Editor). For a third party application see: PlistEdit Pro - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/plisted...
You can locate the backup folder on Mac at this location:
[your-user-name] / Library / AppliÂÂcation Support / MobileSync / Backup /
The rest steps are the same.
For iOS 5 users:
There were many complaints that this method may not work under iOS 5. Sorry, but at this moment I can't verify if this will work with iOS 5 or not ):
However, if you have an older backup folder from iOS 4 or previous you can recover the restrictions passcode from that folder in the same way as been described above.
