John Chamberlain: Choices at the Guggenheim, Feb 24--May 13, 2012

Guggenheim curator Susan Davidson highlights the development of John Chamberlain's color sense and examines the influence that other artists had on his work (such as David Smith, Willem de Kooning, and Vincent van Gogh) within this excerpt from the John Chamberlain: Choices exhibition video. His exploration of color found in the ready-made, manufactured hues of used automobiles garnered attention when he first entered the scene in the 1960s, and immediately fostered a promising reputation.

Curated by Susan Davidson, Senior Curator, Collections and Exhibitions, and Helen Hsu, Assistant Curator.

John Chamberlain: Choices is supported by the Henry Luce Foundation and the Terra Foundation for American Art.

The Leadership Committee for John Chamberlain: Choices, chaired by Larry Gagosian, is gratefully acknowledged.
