The HyP Report revises the work done by the Huicholes y Plaguicidas Project to defend the human and labor rights of fieldworkers and their families who are exposed to toxic pesticides, when the authorities fail to enforce the workplace safety norms designed to protect their health.

Beginning in the 1950s, Rachel Carson warned us about the dangers of these poisons. More than 60 years later, the situation has not changed as far as these hazards to health and the environment.

A number of specialists have stated their points of view and have demanded necessary changes in government policies. They also urge consumer responsibility to stop enabling industrialized agriculture, which is a type of farming imposed by a neo-liberal model seeking only to maximize profits by exploiting the labor and health of those who are most in need. In this way, we can begin to reverse the disaster in which we find ourselves today.
