Kevin Hazard, one of the architects behind the SoftLayer + Supermicro Server Challenge II, sets a new world record for the competition at the Strata conference in Santa Clara, CA.

The Server Challenge is a hands-on competition for conference attendees to engage with servers like the ones SoftLayer, an IBM Company, hosts in our 13 data centers around the world. To complete the challenge, competitor have two opportunities per day to complete two simple tasks:

- Populate 24 drive trays into the drive bays of two 2U Supermicro servers
- Connect 18 network cables into the appropriate switches

At each event, the fastest competitor walks away with the pride of victory ... and a MacBook Air.

The SoftLayer team isn't eligible to win the competition at shows, but that doesn't stop us from attempting to set world records. As you can see from the video, even the new world record involved a few bobbles and mistakes, so we haven't yet seen the "perfect game."

If you think you have what it takes to beat Kevin's time, find out when SoftLayer is heading to your neighborhood, and stop by our booth to prove it. Here's our current event calendar: http://sftlyr.com/events
