Title: Rice Abundant -- After a pest crisis crippled rice farms in many countries throughout Asia in 2008, DuPont developed solutions to help increase rice production and yields. Among its efforts, DuPont™ Rynaxypyr® insecticide helped farmers in the village of Kuta Rakyat, Indonesia combat the pests that traditionally ravaged their harvests. These crop protection efforts in subsistence farming communities aided the quality of life in Indonesia, helping the country feed its people and avoid political strife and food riots that blighted many other Asian nations at the time. Rynaxypyr® is an award-winning and efficient insecticide with an exceptional environmental profile.

RICE ABUNDANT

DEDEN HERMANSYAH
INDONESIAN FARMER
I wanted to become a rice farmer so that I could provide enough food for the people here. I started my business in 2005.
But my farm failed because at that time there was a major pest outbreak, which wiped out almost 80 percent of my crop.
I felt like such a failure.

PUTU WARDANA
INDONESIAN CENTRE FOR RICE RESEARCH, ICRR
Farmers often say they feel powerless against such pests and diseases.

NANDANG M. HOLIL
They were experiencing heavy losses throughout the country.
DuPont stepped in with a new product called Rynaxypyr®.

It protected my rice fields from the pests.

PUTU WARDANA
Science and technology, especially with regard to rice, have significantly improved our quality of life.
We have a responsibility to provide food for a continually increasing number of Indonesians.
And that means increasing rice production.

DEDEN HERMANSYAH
As a farmer, when I can provide enough food, it gives me a sense of pride.
