The Algerian revolution (1954-62) was a response to 130 years of ruthless colonisation by the french during which the Algerians were denied basic human rights.
As if this weren't enough, the french settlers started a bombing campaign against the civilian population in Algiers prompting the National Liberation Front, better known by its french acronym(FLN), to respond in kind triggering what has become known as "THE BATTLE OF ALGIERS"
