Lynyrd Skynyrd is a southern rock band from the 1970's. They got their name from a gym couch they had as a kid. His name was Lynard Skinerd. The reason Lynyrd Skynyrd didn't name the band Lynard Skinerd is because it was illegal due to his exact name.

Ronnie Van Zant, the original lead singer, loved singing as a kid and teen. Everywhere he went, he sang. He grew up in a Flordia, along with many other Lynyrd Skynyrd members.

Lynyrd Skynyrd's first album Pronounced Leh'nerd Skin'nerd wasn't a huge sucsess. But in the middle 70's they became well known from a major hit "Free Bird", along with others like "Simple Man", "Tuesday's Gone", "Sweet Home Alabama", "Call Me The Breeze", and many more.

In the late 70's, Lynyrd Skynyrd was in a tragic plane crash leaving many of the band member dead or injured. Ronnie Van Zant died. Several years later, his little brother Johnny Van Zant steped in with other band members. Many years after he joined, they got a ranked #18 album God & Guns. This had songs such as "God & Guns", "Floyd", "Still Unbroken", and more.
