Propulsion System and Mining Technology - This video represents scientific research into heavy lift space propulsion requirement, designed for hauling asteroid regolith between vast distances from the inner and outer asteroid belts and earth.

Not only is there a heavy lift requirement, but a method for extracting and refining extraterrestrial minerals, primarily metals and precious metals, can be dealt with using a novel extraction method, using boreheads, railcars, and tele-operated robotics for drilling, scanning, sifting, and storing the primitive metals, for either on-the-spot refining, or 50 ft. cannister storage.

This is a manned operation, which is a follow-up to a robotic flyby that yields a high-resolution SAR gamma-map of the surface of the asteroid, showing the greatest likelihood for increased concentration under the surface, and at specific geographic locations around the asteroid.
