Two sequences illustrate female White-Streaked Silkmoths (Saturnia albofasciata) emerging from their cocoons. The first one is in time lapse. The second one is in realtime, with several "fades" to weed-out the inactive periods. The cocoons have been partially cut open to provide a viewing window to monitor the progress of the pupal development.
