Two sequences illustrate female White-Streaked Silkmoths (Saturnia albofasciata) emerging from their cocoons. The first one is in time lapse. The second one is in realtime, with several "fades" to weed-out the inactive periods. The cocoons have been partially cut open to provide a viewing window to monitor the progress of the pupal development. Much more butterfly/moth video, photography and life cycle studies available free to the public at HTTP://jcmdi.com, and the Hi-Res version of this video is available on DVD at http://technician.jcmdi.com/lepdvd01/... for details.
