Welcome to App Wednesday! Each Wednesday I will review an App for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or Mac and today's app is OmniDiskSweeper.
OmniDiskSweeper allows you to size your entire hard drive so that you can see which files and folders are taking up space. All results are displayed in a traditional folder view and in size order.
There is the option to just scan your Home folder rather than your entire hard drive and this will display all your own files and folders, rather than any system files. The app makes it easy to navigate through the folder hierarchy to find out those files that are taking up the most space. When you find a file that you no longer need and want to remove simply hit the delete button in the lower left corner.
A very simple but effective app and one that I can recommend, especially if you have a small hard drive or limited space. It's also a good idea to have a clean out if you're thinking of upgrading your OS or if transferring your data to a new Mac.
