HP Laserjet 42xx or 43xx series printer were sold with the JetDirect 615n network interface card. In 2009 HP realized that the 615n cards were defective and did a free swap program for any users that complained about EIO 82-0180 Jetdirect network card errors. The Jetdirect 620n was more stable and dependable. The swap program closed at near the end of 2009.

Thanks to "DavidZuts" who in 09-30-2009 suggested that 615n owners should cook the cards in a 350 degrees oven for 8 minutes. This sounds like a joke but - - - WOW IT WORKS! - - -. I used a propane torch and heated the card directly for aprox. one minute.

Update: You will have to buy a new JetDirect card, but this fix will buy you some time.
