The Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs, Stimulus Oversight and Government Spending held a hearing entitled, "Duplication, Overlap, and Inefficiencies in Federal Welfare Programs" on June 1st. The hearing examined the GAO's Duplicative Programs Report, entitled 'Opportunities to Reduce Potential Duplication in Government Programs, Save Tax Dollars, and Enhance Revenue,' which includes findings on potential duplication, overlap, and inefficiencies involving a number of federal social welfare programs that are targeted exclusively or in part toward lower-income families and individuals.
