Safety has always been an important topic at BMW. In the last 60 years, BMW continuously raised the bar: from the first crash-tests until the sophisticated security system in present BMW cars.

One of my teachers got rear ended in a 3 series. The hood of the driver that hit her was almost destroyed (the car that hit her was a Chrysler) and her car got totaled but she left with no injury. She said that if she wasn't in a German car she wouldn't have survived

All BMW cars have been made like tanks. It's the German way.
Sorry but Swedish safety is far better, as Top Gear demonstrated with an E30 BMW and Saab 900. Same with Euro Ncap results; where the E60 5 series got 4 stars, Saabs 9-5 and 9-3 both achieved 5 starts also Volvo's S40, C30 etc.

The Range Rover L322 my family had with the BMW 3.0D Inline Six was bulletproof fired up every and anytime
at 1:12 you can see the car occupan flung away from the car as it rolls. 2:13 drivers arm sticks out of the car and will clearly be crushed. Poor selection of clips to say the least. Plus a shameful euroNCAP performance of e36 comes to mind...
