This one is not bad, I like the exit.
Aerial Dance Workshops with Susan Murphy.
A weekend of workshops in Laban Movement Technique for Aerialists with virtuoso Susan Murphy (www.authenticaerial.com), presented by Esh Aerial Arts and Aircraft Aerial Arts.
Day 1: Authentic Aerial: Intro to Laban for Aerialists Saturday, September 24.
Aerial choreography shares the same aesthetic concerns of all dance: creating authentic emotional intent and expression; phrasing and dynamic changes; initiation of movement and movement quality; the assimilation of seamless, nuanced transitions with technical skill. Using tools offered by Laban Movement Analysis, we will explore the vocabulary of Effort (the inner impulse or urge to move) and Shape (shaping to equipment or to other people) through improvisation and through playing with set choreography.
Day 2. Making Dances with Meaning: Laban Level 2
An experiential aerial class where students bring a work-in-progress or create the beginning of a new dance, in class. Using the Laban concepts of Effort and Shape we will explore ways of deepening our choreography so that technique is wedded with feeling, intentionality, stillness, and authentic transitions. The power of gesture will also be a focus of this class as well as smoothing out phrasing between "big moves".
