The base currency of the United States is the U.S. dollar, and is printed on bills in denominations of $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100. At one time, however, U.S. currency included five larger denominations. Notes in the denominations of $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 were printed for general use, and a $100,000 note was printed for certain internal transactions.
