This video is about Michael Gees, a short music film about his Super Audio double CD "Beyond Schumann" which has been released on the label Challenge Classics May 2013.

A film by Immanuel Claashen, showing footage from the recording in the studio in Lindensaal, Markkleeberg (Germany). Michael Gees plays some of the the Sinfonische Etüden Op.13 in this film. For the CD he uses well known pieces of Schumann, like the Sinfonische Etüden, Kinderszenen, Kreisleriana etc.. First he makes an in-depth study of them. With the knowledge and love for these pieces he then goes many steps further: he improvises and develops the tunes and brings them alive in a way we could have never imagined!

This sheds a new light on Schumann but even better, through these improvisations, we get to know the pianist, composer and improvisor Michael Gees and find out what an enormous talent he is and what extraordinary skills he has!

"Beyond Schumann" is available via http://www.challengerecords.com/produ... and of course via your local classical specialist or via the Itunes store.
