An algorithm is a set of instructions for solving problems, such as determining the right dose of a medicine, finding the lowest price for a product or matching a résumé with a job opening.

Tim Berners-Lee, (the inventor of the internet) and Jonathan Zittrain (founder of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University) talk about some of the legal and ethical issues surrounding the algorithms that run our lives at 2010's World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Originally produced on January 28, 2010.
