WYEA's Veteran of the Month for January is Frank S. Thacker Jr. The program is sponsored by Radney-Smith Funeral Home with the assistance of American Legion Post 45. A World War II veteran, Mr. Thacker joined the Army in October 1943 and served through April 1946. After receiving basic training at Ft. Meade in Maryland, he was assigned to medical school at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C., and then to Europe. Mr. Thacker received several medals, including the U.S. Army Overseas Service Award, the Army Service Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Medal. Military veterans deserve our deepest respect, recognition, and admiration for the decision they made to serve, defend, and protect our country, and the opportunity to share some of their stories is an honor. Pictured with Mr. Thacker is Erin Martin of WYEA's business development team.
