How do you feel living in a world with no real men or women? This is what Minecraft creator, Markus Persson, also known as Notch, is intending for you to feel in the game according to a blog post he put up over the weekend. In the post he revealed that all the characters in Minecraft are essentially genderless. All of them. The main character Steve, the chickens, the cows, even the green slimes. All genderless.

Notch said the human model is intended to represent a Human Being. Not a male or a female , but simply a Human. This is weird considering the main character is named Steve and looks very much like a dude! And, since all the characters are genderless- this means that they are all are gay as well I suppose- in some weird way. Since- they can only choose to reproduce with other "Genderless" characters. Very strange! Notch further Posted on his blog- "The blocky shape gives it a bit of a traditional masculine look, but adding a separate female mesh would just make it worse by having one specific model for female Human Beings and male ones. That would force players to make a decision about gender in a game where gender doesn't even exist."

What do you think of Notch's genderless environment? Do you think it's truly genderless? Cause it looks heavily male dominated to me. Leave me a comment, let me know what you think. Guys- make sure you hit that big subscribe button. I'm Hailey and I'll be back with more of your gaming news.

You need to disable comments on this, and it could have done without the personal opinions.  To the commenters:  Gender doesn't exist in minecraft, and that is a GOOD thing.

What the actual fuck?! I'm genderless but I'm not gay, this is the most homophobic and transphobic gaming news video. This is so offense, and I don't get offended often.

No offence but this video was not at all well made. I don't know the intensions but it came off as dumb, offensive and extremely unprofessional. "His name is Steve and he looks like a dude" doesn't sound like a great argument... How does ze look like a "dude". All we could base it off of would be the haircut and clothing and calling that "male" is extremely stereotypical. Saying that genderless people being romantically affiliated with other genderless people is "gay" is ignorant. Gay: to be romantically interested in the same GENDER Genderless: to not have a GENDER How can they be gay? Perhaps the term you are looking for is: Pansexual. Also the repetitive "gay in this weird way" whilst making faces wasn't exactly the kindest thing to do. Sounded very homophobic to me but I don't know... Again just some constructive criticism.

That sort of dawned on me whenever I fed the animals so they can conceive. I mean, it is a videogame, sure. But the sheer display of idiocy of this video is stupefyingly baffling. If your character is genderless, how does it make them homosexual? Second, we have already acknowledged that Steve is the default male character. Even the name Steve clearly gives it away. That is normally why skins are a feature; to provide the player a avatar that befits their sex, personality and fashion sense. I'm sure that is why Mojang opted to create Alex, the default female character to appease the female audience of Minecraft.
