I camped one night at the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, in southwestern Wyoming. The scenery was pretty, although I was still readjusting to real summer weather after coming down from the higher elevations in the northwestern part of the state. This was a free-range cattle area, and the next morning I was awaken by cows mooing at 5AM on the other side, with the sound echoing around the canyon. Maybe that was payback for me commenting on the cow skull near my campsite. That led to an early morning on the road. June 2009.
