Old Latvian Midsummer folk song from the surroundings of Jaunjelgava in the historical lands of Selonian tribe. It features one of the widespread plots of this genre: the courtship of Sun's daughter and God's son. In this song one can find the collision of three worlds: the matriarchal pre-Indo-European which has left the cult of mother-Sun, the patriarchal Indo-European which established a hierarchy with the chief god of thunder Perkūnas (often referred to simply as "the God" in folklore) and Christianity which gave new names for the traditional pagan festivities.
Translation of the lyrics:
John's day is the sacred one, ligo ligo
Out of all the days, ligo
On John's day the son of god, ligo ligo
Is greeting the daughter of Sun, ligo

Dziesmas vārdi:
Jaņu diena svēta diena, līgo līgo
Aiz visami dieņiņami, līgo
Jaņu dienā dieva dēls, līgo līgo
Saules meitu sveicināja, līgo
