Fotolanthropy: Real Stories. Real People. Real Inspiration.

Fotolanthropy is a movement of photographers and filmmakers across the country that donates a portrait session, coffee book album and images to an inspiring family that has faced hard times. With this special story a short film has been created. Fotolanthropy is funded by the Fotostrap: the camera strap that gives back! To support our mission shop at: http://www.fotostrap.com

This past fall, Bastrop Texas was hit hard by one of the most
destructive wildfires in Texas history. This wildfire destroyed over
1,500 homes, one in particular being the Whitfield's home. We cannot
tell you how blessed and honored we were to meet and connect with the
Whitfield family. Cody and Melinda and their two children Oliva and
Creed evacuated their home along with hundred's of other families,
only to come back to it burned completely to the ground by this
devastating wildfire. We heard of their story, contacted them, and
were able to set up a time to do begin our next fotolanthropy project
with them. We traveled to Bastrop Texas just a week or two after the
fires had subsided and began our session. Though they had just lost
their entire home, the Whitfield's had such warmth to extend to us and
were so positive through the whole day. Their strength as a family
was very evident and they pointed to the Lord as the source of their
strength through this time. It was amazing to hear their words and
attitude as they faced this huge trial before them. We were all
inspired by their story as they showed us how they were making it
through this tough time and keeping such a positive attitude and
encouraging one another along the way. We are also glad we could
provide them with tangible photos of their family for their new home
and life to come. We hope you are just as encouraged as we were from
the Whitfield family and can see their story as truly an inspiration
to you as well.
