On May 9, 1985 FCC approved its decision in Docket 81-413 over the opposition of almost all major companies in the radio technology era. This decision was a deregulatory one intended to spur technical innovation by removing barriers to spread spectrum technology. From this beginning, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee and a host of other wireless products were developed. (Video from FCC archives)
