Remarks by Peter Ohm, Acting Branch Manager for Current Planning, and Garry Dziwenka, Director of Licensing and Vehicle for Hire, on the proposed Vehicle for Hire Bylaw (17400), which goes to City Council for second reading on January 26, 2016.

The proposed bylaw responds to Edmontonians’ changing expectations of the industry by creating a new class, Private Transportation Provider (PTP), that would allow technology-based companies, such as mobile app dispatchers, to operate legally in Edmonton. The goal is to ensure that each segment of the market is viable under the new system, and to provide consumer choice and safe service for Edmontonians while complying with Provincial regulations.
