The video portrays a journey of sounds from the A12 Road, through Coverhithe to the edge. The main theme is contrasts and also resonance between the sound of the main road (start clip), and the sound of the sea (end point). The video captures the transition between these two places. Overall, the volume begins at a high point, lulls in the quieter transitional zone and gets louder again at the sea approaches.
The atmosphere at locations along the progression of the journey, is also captured through speed and colour; from the fast, greyscale urban environment; to the slow, sublime, coloured natural environment at the coast edge.
Cropped stills are displayed over sound samples at specific points along the progression of the journey, to give a sense of the variety of the sounds that were experienced along the way.
The video speaks of a duality between the natural and man made, but also an analogue transition between these two, reintroducing continuity to challenge the perceived schism.
