I've added an transistor switch + 18 IR-Leds to make my universal remote control 18 times stronger, and it works like a charm. The construction is very simple - all you need is a PNP transistor used as a switch, C-connected to the Anode, and Kathode is connected to Minus, and the base of the transistor is shorted to the Minus and the entire thing will light up, now remember - the IR remote pulses...so the light isn't constant...this means you can easily apply overvoltage and get a really strong "IR" pulse without destroying your IR`s.
