COURTENAY - A vehicle crash has left an RCMP officer from the Comox Valley badly injured.

She was on a routine patrol when her police cruiser was struck head-on by an SUV that crossed the centre line.

The officer and the other driver had to be cut out of the wreckage. RCMP are now investigating whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
