This is mainly a deathmatch level, with a few monsters thrown in as well for a single player challenge. Normally these kinds of levels suck. But despite the slightly aimless level progression and symmetrical layout, this was pretty enjoyable actually. The varied terrain is fun to run over and use for hiding/sniping behind, etc. Monsters are placed so you can be attacked from any direction, and there's a high number of monsters hidden behind one-way walls, so fireballs and scratches will sometimes come out of nowhere. Which gets halfway to simulating what an actual deathmatch is like, so good work there.
And if you want to get 100% kills, you can tackle the level systematically to do so. The route I found was to run round the outer paths first, taking each sector and each hidden imp alcove in sequence. Then run into the middle and take out the monsters from the quadrangle in the centre. Finally, take out the remaining groups of imps in the hidden passages, leaving the hidden passage containing the exit till last.
Overall it's not a tough level, although sometimes those hidden imps can do significant damage before you get a chance to see where they are. The visuals are fine, it's a pleasing mix of colours. Can't tell you how it plays in an actual deathmatch, but I think players would miss the heavier weapons - the toughest thing available in the chaingun.
