Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless radioactive gas that can enter homes through small cracks in the foundation, sump pumps or soil in crawlspaces. Overall, radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the nation, but it's the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. The Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and the Illinois Broadcasters Association (IBA) joined together in a TV and radio campaign to make people in Illinois more aware of the hidden health hazard that could be in their homes. This TV spot has aired on stations throughout Illinois. For more information about radon, including how to test your home for radon, visit IEMA's radon website at www.radon.illinois.gov
