A fertilizer ordinance that bans the use of certain fertilizers from June 1 to Sept. 30 helps to protect the environment by reducing the amount of nutrients that run off into waterways of Pinellas County. Excess nitrogen and phosphorus leads to algae blooms and fish kills. Fertilizer and landscape debris are nutrient sources that can be controlled with your help.
