The band banters it up and plays an extended version of Heartbeat. Like Holly playing songs exactly the same way each time is not our forte, we let the song carry us away and it varies a little each time but like art, songs have life and they breathe. Heartbeat is a Holly-Montgomery song - Bob Montgomery was perhaps the most important influence on Buddy Holly's life in terms of musical style and writing skill. He is most known for producing Bobby Goldsboro having moved to Nashville in 1962. His songs like Wishing, Love's Made a Fool of you and Heartbeat show the depth of his melodic sophistication along with the simplicity that all brilliant songs have. In 1996 Montgomery's son Kevin joined on the Nashville tribute "Not Fade Away". He now performs all across the world and is a star in his own right. Check out www.kevinmontgomery.com. Kevin possesses his Dad's genius and talent. He often plays with Tommy Allsup. My personal favourite Holly-Montgomery tune is Down The Line - the point where country became rockabilly - this began the change in direction that completely changed Holly's career to the one we know him for. Buddy and Bob's old country songs are impressive jewels worth hearing.
