Technology is making trips to the dentist quicker, more precise and less painful with the use of an Itero 3D scanner. "You stay with your mouth open and I take the camera in your mouth and start taking pictures," explained Dr. Serge Papiernik. All those pictures create a 3D digital model and within minutes a lab in California has the image and creates the perfect tooth replacement. The 3D scan takes the place of that plastic tray filled with putty that takes a mold of your mouth and teeth. Dentists say this technology is much better than the conventional impression. The Itero scanner is by far the best scanner used in dentistry "You have an exact replica of what's in the mouth of the patient," said Dr. Serge Papiernik. Having an exact replica means it's incredibly precise and more comfortable. Crowns and bridges are perfect fit and the process is quick and painless. 3D scanning is covered by insurance but there are only about ten of them in South Florida.
