This is a juvenile Ruby-Throated hummingbird. I can't recall what brought him into the Center but he is doing well! Hummingbirds are somewhat common visitors to the Center but are always a center of attention. Many times before, volunteers and interns alike have found themselves stopped and watching a hummingbird for long durations. This guy is preening to straighten and clean his feathers. He also is eating a bit of a nectar mix that's quite similar to what you'd find at many nature stores... and if you look closely, you can see his long tongue after he tastes some!
