This is a juvenile Ruby-Throated hummingbird. I can't recall what brought him into the Center but he is doing well! Hummingbirds are somewhat common visitors to the Center but are always a center of attention. Many times before, volunteers and interns alike have found themselves stopped and watching a hummingbird for long durations. This guy is preening to straighten and clean his feathers. He also is eating a bit of a nectar mix that's quite similar to what you'd find at many nature stores... and if you look closely, you can see his long tongue after he tastes some!

This video was taken at the Bird Center of Washtenaw in Ann Arbor, Michigan. If you are interested in bird rehabilitation and what you can do to help, contact me at be.zoo.logical@gmail.com
