Attend this webcast for an in-depth explanation of this coming Standard and learn how it will impact the management and operation of your facility and why compliance will reduce your legal exposure.

Legionnaires' disease. It's a phrase that rattles even the most stalwart facility professional. From bad press to disruptive emergency disinfection processes to diminished property values to claims and lawsuits, this microscopic bacteria has the potential to cause enormous trouble.

According to an August 2011 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report, Legionnaires' disease is on the rise, increasing by 217 percent in the last decade - or 18,000 to 20,000 cases annually in the United States.

This summer, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. is scheduled to release ASHRAE Standard 188: Prevention of Legionellosis Associated with Building Water Systems -- a new standard requiring that facility owners and managers implement stronger safeguards via proactive risk assessment and risk management practices aimed at preventing Legionellosis from being contracted in commercial, institutional and industrial buildings.

After you attend this webcast, you will... Know how Legionellosis is transmitted and contracted - and who is at greatest risk Be aware of potential sources of Legionella bacteria covered by the standard, including potable and non-potable water systems; cooling towers, aerosol-generating air coolers, humidifiers, and water features in and outside your facilities Understand ASHRAE 188's specified HACCP based practices for risk assessment and management Learn how the practices established under ASHRAE 188 may impact an organization's legal liability and why compliance can save you money
