My friend John and I, who happens to own both of these beautiful rifles, thought that this was a video that needed to be made. I think John is the most knowledgeable gun enthusiast I have ever met. He is very much into Russian firearms and I would consider him an expert. This is an educational video, I learned a lot about the Dragunov and the PSL by just listening to John rattle off specs about both these rifles that I had no idea about.
I hope that by watching this video you will see that there is a huge difference between the operating systems of both these giants. I can't speak for John but I know He wanted to get across to everyone that the next time you think of an Dragunov, you will see a design and concept in your mind and not just the physical appearance of the firearm known as SVD.
This is a very long video and we both apologize for that up front but that this is the amount of time needed to break into both these rifles and really get to the heart and soul of what makes each what it is.
Please enjoy and ask all the questions you can think of and if you want a true Dragunov rifle, be prepared to do a lot of searching and be ready to spend thousands of dollars. There are under 130 true military Russian Dragunovs in the USA and not a whole lot more Tiger Carbines, although they can be found at a much more affordable price then a true military SVD. There are about 10 Tigers a year that go up for sale and they demand a price depending on if they have been militarized of between 3 and 5 thousand dollars. The PSL is a much more affordable firearm but in no way shape or form is it a Dragunov, it is an AK on steroids. lol.
John and I both thank you for watching and please enjoy.
