As part of the 350.org MOVING PLANET campaign to build global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis by moving the planet beyond fossil fuels, DOWNSHIFTING FOR EARTH and INFINITY EXPEDITIONS organized a week of activities in Utupua Island, Solomon Islands, starting on Sept 20th, 2011. The action was idealized in June, 2011, in Sigatoka, Fiji, in the 350,org's Pacifika Climate Leadership Workshop among 50 people from 13 Pacific countries — Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, the Solomon Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Tonga, Vanuatu, American Samoa, Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand. The Infinity crew came out from this workshop committed to build up an Moving Planet event on Sept, 24th in UTUPUA Island, where the ship was going to be anchored. The event in Utupua mobilized approximately 500 people in four communities, Nembao, Aondo, Asumboa and Aveta with awareness, educational and cultural activities.
