Tucker is a 12-year old German Shepherd from Covy Tucker Hills. Tucker has Degenerative Disc Disease. He has had a lot of success in walking because of Pat Perkins, DVM in Lee's Summit, MO.

Dr. Perkins recommended the underwater treadmill for him because his hamstrings are getting worse - atrophied. So this is an underwater treadmill to help him build up his hamstrings. Sandy Brown is the Physical therapist helping him.

Tucker's hamstrings have atrophied due to his degenerative disc disease. An underwater treadmill provides a reduced weight-bearing environment that increases functional use of a limb without marked weight loading and resultant discomfort. Walking on an underwater treadmill once a week or more can help patients with muscle atrophy improve strength and mobility because of the increased resistance to forward motion.
