Missy Franklin's late-night tweet — "dreams really do come true" — sounded like something a senior might sign in her high school yearbook, which makes sense, because she'll be one come summer's end.And she'll have an interesting what-I-did-on-summer-vacation essay to write: Melissa Jeanette Franklin, better known as Missy, and sometimes Missy the Missile, is swimming's next big thing, primed to burst onto the world stage at the London Games.

Thursday night she finished second in the 200-meter freestyle, behind Allison Schmitt's American record of 1 minute, 54.40 seconds, qualifying Franklin for a second event, plus the 4x200 relay. That followed her performance Wednesday, when Franklin set an American record in winning the 100 backstroke.

"The excitement is crazy," she said. "It took me forever to fall asleep last night. I'm still trying to stay focused on my other races. I think making it for the first time is such a big deal. You can't beat that feeling. ... But to have a second event now and be in the relay it's going to be so much fun."
